In Service - from about the early 1970s to the early 90s

This trailer was designed specifically to be towed behind the AEC Mammoth Major and later the Leyland Bison refuellers. The trucks had a fuel capacity of 3,000 gallons, but the trailers had a higher capacity of 4,500 gallons. The truck and trailer combinations were required to refuel the larger aircraft such as Hercules, VC 10 and Tristar with one truck and trailer positioned under each wing. These trailers have since been replaced with a newer version from Gloster Saro that has an oblong tank across its whole length rather than the depressed centre on these trailers.
