The Humber 1 ton Wireless Truck was designated as a "Wireless Light" vehicle with its larger cousin made by Austin. The chassis cab was made by Routes Group based at Ryton-on-Dunsmore near Coventry, with the bodywork made by Marshalls of Cambridge. It came into service in the mid 1950s and was used through to 1968/69 when they were all sold off or scrapped. They were used in the Suez War and in Borneo/Malaysia as well as in Aden. A small number of them were converted (mainly with extra roof bins) to act as command vehicles for the Corporal Nuclear Missile System.
