This is an un-assembled 1/152nd scale model of a Saracen Ambulance that measures 32mm long, 17mm wide, and is 15mm high. It weighs 18g and consists of 10 parts that are made of lead-free pewter alloy.
In Service - 1954 through to the mid 80s (in Territorial Army/Reserve units)
This armoured ambulance was introduced to support the armoured personnel carrier version of the Saracen. The main differences between the two vehicles are the lack of any armament, including no smoke dischargers on the front wings that were replaced with sirens on both sides. The turret and rear machinegun ring have been plated over. Otherwise it is the same externally as the APC.
This model shows the initial version of the ambulance. The vehicles were later modified with additional armour and square crew air intakes instead of the round ones. The photos show a model with transfers from Mike Starmer. His transfers were originally designed for 1/76th scale WWII US ambulances.
